Liberty follows two expat families in Tanzania in the 1980s: the Knudsen family from Denmark and the Larssons from Sweden.
In Tanzania, the Knudsen family is finally reunited. Niels has been looking forward to showing his family the new life at a welcoming party at the Larssons, with other expats. Despite the familiarity in the language and style of their Scandinavian friends, it's a different culture, and Africa offers a life of new opportunities. But with these opportunities come grave consequences.
