In 1985, the former frontman of The Boomtown Rats, Bob Geldof decided to organise a charity concert after seeing the pictures of the 1984 famine in Ethiopia. After already releasing a Christmas single under the name, Band Aid, Live Aid was a follow up. It would feature many of the countries famous artists, including Sting, David Bowie, Queen, The Who (live feed), Phil Collins, Bob Geldof, Paul McCartney. Whilst Live Aid was in full swing at Wembley, England another concert was under way at the JFK based in America. The American concert featured the likes of Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards. The BBC broadcast the Wembley concert in it's entirety and also broadcast a lot of the American footage too.
