Helen Skelton and Jules Hudson follow life at Cannon Hall Farm with brothers Rob and Dave Nicholson, who are preparing their animals for a crucial season - one that can make or break their farm.
Helen Skelton and Jules Hudson are back at Cannon Hall Farm in South Yorkshire with Rob and Dave Nicholson to celebrate the resilience, ingenuity and community spirit that shine bright in the cold months. Young Highland cattle are halter-trained for the end-of-year show in Carlisle. Helen and Jules hear uplifting stories from the Farmy Army and catch up with viewers from across the UK and beyond.
The team welcomes a batch of adorable Swiss Valais lambs and meet 91-year-old farmer Tom Walne, who has spent a lifetime championing the endangered Suffolk Punch horse. Rob and Dave Nicholson continue their Dutch adventure, learning about the magnificent Friesian horses - known as the 'Black Pearls of the Netherlands' - while, closer to home, JB Gill lends a hand scanning Cannon Hall's American Miniature Horses to see if tiny hooves might soon be on the way. In the kitchen, chef Tim Bilton serves up a warming jambalaya inspired by the UK's first-ever rice paddy in Cambridgeshire.
The week wraps up on the farm as Rob and Dave Nicholson welcome a new Highland calf after a dramatic birth, and Jules Hudson lends a hand helping barn owls settle into their new home on the farm. With advice from nature expert Sally Coulthard, the team also shares simple ways we can all help wildlife through the colder months.
