An introverted, disillusioned university student finds his life transformed after meeting an optimistic blind woman. As they bond over fulfilling her bucket list—including a dream to see fireworks—they must navigate a bittersweet romance cut short by the return of her childhood illness.
At a party, reserved college student Kakeru meets a mysterious and charming young woman who is unable to see.
Kakeru takes Koyuki to try out an old piano and the two tour a Meiji era sailboat that is preserved on campus.
Kakeru and Koharu go to karaoke with friends and decide to check out the university's fireworks club together.
Kakeru and Koharu go on their fireworks shopping trip and then enjoy a very relaxing ride home on a water bus.
Kakeru and his roommate Narumi get a chance to take Koharu and Yuko for a ride on the college's cutter boat.
Kakeru shares an intimate moment with Koharu and then turns to Narumi and Hayase for advice on how to proceed.
After Koharu disappears for a week, Kakeru and Yuko get a clue about where she is and run out to look for her.
Hoping to spend time with Koharu, Kakeru and friends decide to volunteer at the hospital where she is staying.
Still volunteering at the hospital, Kakeru learns more about Koharu's illness and happens to meet her mother.
With three months to go until the "Children's Fireworks" event that he and Hayase had planned, Sorano encouraged Fuyutsuki to do his best to fight his illness.
He kept a watchful eye on Fuyutsuki's health, but her condition, which had been improving, suddenly worsened, making it impossible for him to visit her.
While agonizing over the frustration and anxiety of being unable to do anything for her, he heard words that gave him the strength to move forward.
With the fireworks event approaching, Koharu keeps working step by step toward regaining some of her strength.
