Mark travels throughout North America to meet the world's most audacious hobbyists, and the communities of like-minded obsessives who nurture them, all to find that one, true, perfect hobby he can claim as his own.
Mark McKinney travels to the Canadian shores of Lake Erie to learn about birding and birdwatching; he embarks on a journey to the Long Point Nature Preserve, tags and releases birds at a Birds Canada outpost.
Mark McKinney joins his hobbyist host, Aurora, and travels to Ontario's Kawarthas to spend two days living as a 14th century knight. With pavilions and tents pitched in the middle of a field, Mark will dress, eat, live, and sleep in a wholly medieval world – where he will also help with cooking, try his hand at archery, learn longsword techniques, take in a duel between two knights, and, ultimately, perform a bespoke "medieval stand up comedy set" as his offering to the May Queen who presides over the weekend events.
