Matt Baker takes his parents on a glorious Christmas trip to the Lake District, where they visit Beatrix Potter's hilltop home and try festive felting using local Herdwick wool. Mike gets an early present when he visits the Ruskin Museum to see a display dedicated to his hero - speed record holder Donald Campbell.
Matt takes his mum Janice and dad Mike on a trip to the historic city of York as it prepares for Christmas. They take in the sights, hearing choristers rehearsing in a candlelit church, tasting festive brews at the famous Bettys Café Tea Rooms and helping to decorate the city ready for the big switch on of the lights.
Matt takes his parents on two very special Christmas trips. On their first outing, the Bakers head to Edinburgh with a very special regal invite to board the Royal Yacht Britannia. Matt and mum Janice lend a hand in the State Dining Room as they help out with place setting to royal precision, while dad Mike gets a behind-the-scenes tour of the ship's spotless engine room in the company of one of the 'Royal Yachtsmen'. Matt then helps the maintenance crew re-paint Britannia's gold leaf-striped hull . Later, the trio host the ultimate Christmas party on board the vessel.
Matt, Mike and Janice visit North Yorkshire's fairytale coastal village of Robin Hood's Bay as it prepares for its Christmas festival. Matt and Janice discover the ultimate Christmas jumper as they try their hand at knitting a traditional gansey worn by seafarers' families, and Mike meets some like-minded souls making presents from discarded wood.
