Miami Vice is a remake of NBC's hit series of the same name that ran from 1984 to 1989. The original series, created by Anthony Yerkovich and executive produced by Michael Mann, starred Don Johnson as James "Sonny" Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs, two Metro-Dade Police Department detectives working undercover in Miami.
The series pilot finds Crockett and Tubbs drawn into an uneasy partnership by a common target: a drug kingpin responsible for killings that hit close to home for both men.
