Started in 1999, a team of minor league baseball prospects from the United States and a team of prospects from other countries in the World compete against each other. It is played as part of the festivities of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

The All-Star Futures Game features baseball's top Minor League prospects competing in a seven-inning National League vs. American League format. This year, Shane Victorino and Larry Bowa, both World Series champions with the Phillies, will manage the NL and AL Futures Teams, respectively.
