The epic battle between a determined police chief and a dangerous mobster inflames 1940s Los Angeles in TNT's eagerly anticipated television event Mob City. This powerful drama comes to TNT from Frank Darabont, who wrote and directed the pilot and serves as executive producer on the series. Based on the critically acclaimed book L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America's Most Seductive City, by John Buntin, Mob City opens in post-war Los Angeles, home to glamorous movie stars, powerful studio heads and returning war heroes. But it's also a city caught between a powerful and corrupt police force and an even more dangerous criminal network determined to make L.A. its West Coast base. Los Angeles Police Chief William Parker has made it his mission to free the city of criminals like Ben "Bugsy" Siegel and Mickey Cohen, the ruthless king of the Los Angeles underworld. Parker also won't hesitate to go after anyone from his own police force who sells out honor and duty for the sake of a big payout. To carry out his sweep of organized crime, Parker sets up a new mob task force within the LAPD. Headed by Det. Hal Morrison, the task force includes Det. Joe Teague, an ex-Marine who holds his cards close to his chest.
Hal Morrison and Captain William Parker interrogate Jasmine in a desperate attempt to gain insight into Hecky Nash's blackmail scheme. Keeping a close eye on Jasmine, Joe discovers she's hiding a secret that could cost her her life. Meanwhile, Sid and Terry get a tip that leads to a violent display of revenge.
Hecky Nash bribes police detective Joe Teague to protect him during a dangerous blackmail scheme involving the Los Angeles mob. Seeing this as a perfect opportunity to bring down one of the city's most infamous mobsters, the Los Angeles police force looks to Teague for key information in hopes of crippling the heart of L.A.'s organized crime.
Bugsy unveils a plan that will transform the city. Amid doubts from a past attempt to create a gambling empire, Bugsy makes a violent display to prove his point. Meanwhile, the police force scours the city for leads, more determined than ever to put Siegel behind bars. And Jasmine struggles to keep out of harm's way as more details and suspicions emerge.
The LAPD finally gets Bugsy Siegel behind bars, but what initially appears as a shining moment for the department soon takes a turn for the worse. Having heard that Siegel has been arrested, mobster Jack Dragna takes the opportunity to make his move. Meanwhile, Jasmine is shaken after receiving a frightening threat at her apartment. And Joe receives an unexpected visit from Sid.
With Siegel's trial quickly approaching, a violent massacre wrecks Captain Parker's plans and leaves the LAPD at a loss. All the while, Jasmine is terrified when she realizes she overlooked a detail that could put her in grave danger.
Joe puts his own life in jeopardy when he makes a bold move. Despite hardships, Captain Parker is more determined than ever to clean up the corruption within the LAPD and announces plans to target the source internally. Meanwhile Meyer comes to Bugsy with unwelcome news.
