TG4 has announced the launch of a powerful new documentary series, Néara-Éagsúlacht: Dearcadh Difriúil produced by Tyrone Productions, which will air as part of TG4's Autumn schedule. The two-part series offers a moving and honest insight into the lives of neurodivergent people across Ireland, filmed over the course of a year.The series shines a light on the challenges and triumphs faced by neurodivergent individuals and their families, while highlighting the importance of understanding, inclusion, and support in education, employment, and wider society.
The opening episode focuses on the experiences of children under 18 and their families, exploring how they navigate a world not always designed with them in mind. The programme addresses the importance of early diagnosis and intervention, as well as the personal, educational and social challenges faced by young people who are neurodivergent
The second episode brings focus to adults living with neurodivergence. Viewers meet Cúnla ní Bhraonáin Morris, who was diagnosed in their twenties as autistic; Emma Priest, who received her diagnosis only after both her daughters were diagnosed; Emma Auchincloss, who is thriving in her role at a global tech company, who speaks about the value of employing neurodivergent talent.
