"Never the Twain" is a British sitcom that ran for eleven series from 7 September 1981 to 9 October 1991. It was created by Johnnie Mortimer, and was the only sitcom he ever created without his usual writing partner, Brian Cooke. Simon Peel and Oliver Smallbridge are two men with a lot in common. Not only are they both in the antiques trade, but they have adjacent shops, and even their homes are side-by-side. Both are one-parent family men and neither will stop at anything to get the better of the other. The pair's rivalry doesn't stop their offspring from falling in love and getting married though!
Oliver and Simon both decide to stand for election to the local Council.
Simon has a female pen-pal who he is looking forward to meeting, with a view to marriage. However, the reality is different.
Both Oliver and Simon are doing the pools and hope to win big. After Oliver makes a mistake, Simon takes the opportunity to have some fun.
A weekend away for Simon and Oliver in Ringo's mother's country cottage. Trouble is that it's the wrong weekend.
Simon comes across an old acquaintance who is down on their luck.
The vicar wants to sell his car and gets Simon to help, while Oliver is also selling his car. A confusing time is the result.
