Next Episode of Nirvanna the Band the Show is
not planed. TV Show was canceled.
Fans of Toronto web series Nirvana the Band the Show: Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol are back, and this time they'll be on proper television. Vice selected the show to be its first scripted series for its Viceland channel, and will broadcast an entirely new version of the comedy this fall. If you're not familiar, the series follows two hapless BFFs in a band called Nirvanna (they've added the second ‘n' so they can legally get away with more) who are desperate to get a show at the Rivoli. Matt and Jay go to great lengths, trying absolutely anything to get the attention of the Queen West venue – except the most obvious thing, which would be to write and rehearse some songs.
In an effort to raise awareness about the band, Matt and Jay drop a huge banner across from The Rivoli. It turns out to be more revealing than originally planned.
Matt and Jay create a plan to sneak into the music listings page of Toronto's alt weekly print newspaper and book their own gig.
The guys try to get a float into the annual Santa Claus parade. Challenges abound, leaving them wondering if they will get their Christmas miracle.
While watching the original Star Wars trilogy in a single sitting, Matt goes temporarily blind on opening day of The Force Awakens.
Matt convinces Jay that to book a gig at the Rivoli, they need to make a film. Matt sneaks it into Sundance, becoming a pseudo-celebrity and spiralling out of control.
Matt and Jay befriend a sick kid to use his final wish to ask for Nirvanna the Band to play the Rivoli. They wind up showing him the time of his life, but will time run out?
Jay writes Matt a letter saying that he is leaving the band. Over a feast at an all you can eat Chinese buffet, Jay tries to work up the courage to read Matt the letter.
Matt and Jay become unwitting players in a hostage situation. But Matt sees it as an opportunity to finally make it to the Rivoli.
