Maria Trifonova is a real "old—school" mathematician, the last "Teacher of the Year of the USSR". In her lessons, children are not only afraid to reach for their phones, but they don't even breathe without permission. Unexpectedly, the heroine finds herself in an elite school — all for the chance to establish a relationship with her only granddaughter, whom she has not seen for many years due to a conflict with her daughter. In her new world, Maria will face an unusual approach to learning: freedom, technology, and the spoiled children of the rich reign here. Now the "Soviet teacher" will have to instill a love of mathematics in the modern generation and find a common language with the closest people.
The new school year is beginning. Maria Pavlovna is returning to school, the headmaster and Natalya are facing a midlife crisis, and Mikhail is being released from pre‑trial detention. Meanwhile, a new supply manager appears at the school.
Mikhail is helping Bogdan with the sculpture competition to impress Maria Pavlovna. The director is trying to get the team interested in football, and Natalya is once again quarreling with her mother over past grievances.
The director is struggling with the divorce, so Mikhail comes to his aid. Natalya is trying to set her ex‑husband up with a biology teacher, and because of Maria Pavlovna, a scandal breaks out at a meeting of the literary club.
Yan is preparing a themed date for Nastya, while the girl herself wants to go to a concert by a famous band. The principal is introducing new innovations at the school in the form of a robot cleaner, which causes Maria Pavlovna to be indignant.
Natalya, with Veronica's help, plans to bring Nastya back home. Maria Pavlovna falls victim to scammers, but not without the help of an acquaintance, and the director organizes annual joint lessons.
Natalia is going to an important award ceremony with the director to protect him from foolishness. Nastya is upset with Yan, but she invites him to play a game together. Maria Pavlovna meets her old friend and arranges to have dinner with their families. Now she urgently needs to find a husband for the evening.
The supply officer and Leonid are trying to save Maria Pavlovna from the fraudster. Natalya agrees to go to dinner with Boyan, and Danya decides to put an end to the historian's suffering and performs a noble gesture.
Maria Pavlovna and Leonid are preparing for a joint performance, while Natalya continues to try to befriend Veronika. Meanwhile, the other teachers are afraid that the principal has contracted a dangerous illness.
