One and Only

Zhou Sheng Chen is the general with the power of over 700,000 soldiers outside the capital. When he was young he had made an oath to never come back to the capital and stay in the western border defending the country. Cui Shi Yi is the young miss of the Cui Family, Cui Family held one of the huge power in the court. She was engaged to the Crown Prince ever since her birth. Ever since her father left the Cui Family after offending Empress Gao, she has refused to talk and has stayed quiet and not talked a word for several years. She uses sigh language to communicate with others. Later the emperor dies and the late emperor's child who was only six years old was crowned the next king. Zhao Sheng Chen then came to the capital, breaking the oath he had given years ago for mourning his elder brother's death.

In the court, when the other minister suspected that Zhou Sheng Chen was here to seize the throne, he made another oath. in the oath he said, he will fight on the western border never marry anyone and not have any children so he will not have any reason to usurp the throne. After he made this oath, Minister Cui asked Zhou Sheng Chen if he could be the teacher of Cui Shi Yi, his granddaughter. After a few years, Zhou Sheng Chen returned to the western border from war. Cui Shi Yi then headed to the western border as her grandfather suggested. She reached there and acknowledge Zhou Sheng Chen as her teacher and started living in his mansion along with his 10 other students.

Zhou Sheng Chen needed to head for another war which may take several months. On the other hand, the Crown Prince is looking forward to their engagement which was bound to happen in the future. Before when they went on a war, his entire mansion used to be empty, but this time there is Shi Yi staying there. Zhou Sheng Chen tells Shi Yi about him heading for another war. After several months there is still no news about him. Staying at his mansion, Shi Yi finally is able to talk a little bit. She finally hears from him and visits him at his Military Camp.

In the process of helping the refugees of the war. Zhou Sheng Chen and Cui Shi Yi reach a Buddhist temple. In that temple, they meet the Prince of another country. They also meet few people who thought Zhou Sheng Chen was about to kidnap their prince and attacked them. While Zhou Sheng Chen was fighting them Cui Shi Yi spoke for the first time in several years to save him. On the other hand, in the capital the eunuchs kept the emperor hostage and ruled the country as they wanted. Hence, the Crown prince heads to the western border to meet his fiancee, Cui Shi Yi. Hearing this news, Zhou Sheng Chen moves back to the military camp.

Zhou Sheng Chen moves to the military camp as he was not interested in getting involved with other royalties and also wanted to give some space for The Crown Prince and Cui Shi Yi. The Crown Prince, Liu Zi Xing arrives at Nancheng mansion, meets Shi Yi, and takes an instant liking to her. Taking the chance of Shi Yi's birthday, Liu Zi Xing goes to the military camp to meet Zhou Sheng Chen. He notices the relationship of Zhou Sheng Chen and Cui Shi Yi is more than a "teacher-student" relationship.

The prince of Nanxiao kingdom escaped from Nanxiao after finding out that his adoptive father, the king of Nanxiao killed his biological father, the late king. In the name of escorting him to the capital, Zhou Sheng Chen deploys heavy forces into the capital to kill Zhao Teng, the eunuch who had kept the Emperor hostage and has been ruling the country on his own.

Zhou Sheng Chen successfully enters the palace. The Crown Prince kills Zhao Teng. Liu Yuan was also captured by Zhou Sheng Chen. The emperor and empress dowager was rescued. The emperor gets back in power, but Crown Prince seems dissatisfied with Zhou Sheng Chen's close relationship with Cui Shi Yi and Emperor and wants to murder him soon.

Cui clan's head asks empress dowager to cancel the engagement between The Crown Prince and Cui Shi Yi because after the emperor has children he will lose his title as "Crown Prince", instead let Cui Feng marry Princess Xing Hua. But Crown Prince has admired Shi Yi ever since he was young, so he was reluctant to let her go. Cui Feng was forced to marry Princess Xing Hua. After Cui Feng promises to marry her Cui Clan's head dies.

The Emperor gives the Prince of Nanxiao the title of "Prince FengYang" and asks Zhou Sheng Chen if he can keep his adviser, Xie Chong to stay in the capital to advise him as he did to the late Emperor. He agrees to stay behind and Zhou Sheng Chen sadly leaves for the Western Border. Meanwhile, The Crown Prince is coveting the throne. Princess Xing Hua and Cui Feng get married too. Taking marriage as the reason the Crown Prince visits the Cui manor again to meet Cui Shi Yi and gets coldheartedly rejected by Shi Yi.

Cui Shi Yi leaves the capital and head for the Western Border. They rest in a temple for the night, that night Yang Zhao, the general of Yong Cheng asks Shi Yi to send reinforce Yong Cheng in this battle. Shi Yi leads the army with no hesitation. When Zhou Sheng Chen hers about this he also goes to save Yong Cheng. During the battle, Shi Yi's senior, Xie Yun gets badly hurt and cannot be able to ride a horse again. Zhou Sheng Chen blames this on himself and feels guilty.

After saving Yong Cheng, Yang Shao keeps Shi Yi hostage and takes her to Nan Xiao. Zhou Sheng Chen follows them alone and enters Nan Xiao. When the royals of Nan Xiao hear about this they close all the city gates to capture them in Nan Xiao. They take a rest at the Long Kang Academy. Since the Nanchen Royal Army had many soldiers, Nan Xiao was scared of them. They didn't dare to harm Zhou Sheng Chen but the King of Nan Xiao wanted to meet his son Xiao Yan who was now Prince Feng Yang.

The other day King of Nan Xiao came to visit Zhou Sheng Chen at the Long Kang Academy. There he asks for something in exchange for letting them return back. Shi Yi offers them a huge amount of rare and famous literature collections but they must be kept in Long Kang Academy. Then he meets his son, Prince Feng Yang but couldn't persuade him to stay behind. Then they go around the city for some amusement.

They return back to Nanchen Mansion. Cui Feng and Zhou Sheng Chen's disciple comes to welcome them at the river bank. They meet Xing Hua. Xing Hua lies to them saying she is pregnant and she must go to the capital for the well-being of her child. On the other hand, In the capital, Empress Dowager has been spending days with male performers and prostitutes. She then sleeps with General Qin and threatens him to support her. The emperor was soon going to have a child soon so Prince Guan Ling was afraid he will lose his position of "Crown Prince". 

Zhou Sheng Cheng and Shi Yi went to walk around the city at night. They visit some stalls and go out of the city to a riverbank. It suddenly starts raining. So they take shelter in an old house with several other passerbys. They meet Yang Shao in the old house. In the middle of the night, Yang Shao kills his partner and heads out. When he reaches out he was caught by the guards outside. Zhou Sheng Chen lets him run away.

In the capital Prince Guang Ling, The Crown Prince was getting sick day by day. The Emperor sends Cui Feng to Tai Yun to suppress the rebellion. The Grand Mentor Xie asks Emperor to arrest Empress Dowager as soon as possible as a warning, but the Emperor turns blind eye to it. Empress Dowager then arrests and kills Grand Mentor Xie. The Crown prince asks Empress Dowager to re-issue the marriage edict between him and Shi Yi, to which Empress Dowager naturally agrees. When Zhou Sheng Chen heard about the news of Grand Mentor Xie's death he was sad but helpless.

Shi Yi's mother was given the edict to bring Shi Yi back to the capital and let her marry the Crown Prince. She travelled to the Western Border to bring Shi Yi back. Shi Yi tells her mother about her feelings towards Zhou Sheng Chen. Her mother tells Shi Yi about the oath he had taken years ago. Shi Yi was asked to leave the Nanchen Royal Mansion within one day. Shi Yi haves a heartfelt talk with Zhou Sheng Chen expressing her sadness and unwillingness to go back.

General ZSC continue to follow CSY entourage back to Central State. The chance meeting when CSY went to meet General Feng where in the room was in actual General ZSC, she confessed that she wrote to her mother asking to stay forever with him while collecting and recording the history. She was full of regrets because it was so near for her wish to be fulfilled but alas it was not so with the re-engagement.

The Emperor made a bold move to poison the Dowager Empress as advised by the late Advisor Xie but at last minute he hesitated and that was his downfall. General Qin together with other guards pinned him down and fed him the poison cup of wine. General ZSC planned and worked stealthily where he predicted turns of event.

CSY was able to cleverly depict the information and messaged to be relayed to the ministers based on the short message from General ZSC. The Dowager Empress plan was foiled and a new child Emperor was crowned instead.

The Crown Prince wedding to CSY was interrupted because there was a battle outside the palace gate to usurp the throne. Crown Prince had joined hands with General Jin and it was not according to his plan because it was earlier execution from Concubine Jin.

General Jin and his armies started riots and unrest but he was on the loosing ground once General ZSC started and won each battle. General Cui was kidnapped by General Jin while CSY waited earnestly for news on her cousin brother and Crown Prince played masquerade, being two faced towards CSY.

This was the last battle was won by General ZSC when General Jin surrendered based on the advised from Crown Prince who usurped the throne after notifying the child Emperor has died. There was a brief lighter moment and showed even not in sight, General ZSC always have CSY in his mind when he ordered and bought the pomegranates as gifts to her. During the celebration General ZSC was invited into the and later he was surrounded by the guards and General Jin armies while General Hong died blocking the spear aimed at General Feng. Watching the calamity and when the child Emperor was brought out with his life at stake. General ZSC let down his sword and accepted the exchange to avoid more deaths.

The throne that the Crown Prince now Emperor - Liu Zi Xing was bloodied. The massacre started from the death of Emperor LZX's family members, then to some of the ministers with deboning of 6 hours towards General ZSC because of his beautiful bones without a nary sound from him. Such a poignant, heart wrenching and bitter pill with the injustice served to General ZSC. General Yang Shao was able to let General ZSC kept his promise towards CSY when he said she will know about his death. Both the souls of General ZSC and CSY connected because she was able to deeply feel the pain to her core, with each twist and turn of knife during the deboning of General ZSC.

CSY read the last message written in blood from General ZSC. "Chen this one life Not turns back heaven earth (whole world) Only turnback Shi Yi" CSY accompany General ZSC in her death.
