We will hear from some of the world's leading experts and the people who knew them personally to find out from them just what made each of these extraordinary characters tick.
This episode focuses on the Peaky Blinders. Although the gang is fictional, it is loosely based on a real urban youth gang active in the city from the 1880s to the 1920s. Featuring cinematic re-enactment and expert talking-head interviews to bring these infamous characters to life, like never before.
The actor shines the spotlight on Al Capone, Alcatraz's most famous resident, who basically created the gangster archetype seen on screen - and the streets. Outside of being a mobster, Capone had a complex personal life with his own inner struggles, including feeling intense shame over his facial scars.
Forcefully ruling Harlem's numbers rackets with an iron fist, facing off against all rivals and surviving assassination attempts. Sean Bean recounts the life of Stephanie St Clair.
The actor examines notorious criminal Billy Hill, who indulged in smuggling, protection rackets and extreme violence. Plus, the extreme violence of twins Ronald Kray and Reginald Kray, who were involved in murder, armed robbery, arson, protection rackets, gambling and assaults.
