Over the Rainbow (2012)

‘Over The Rainbow’, a reality star-search contestant show, stars Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ed Mirvish as they search for who is going to be playing the lead role, Dorothy. From CBC Studios, week after week 10 women, who have been picked to be the charismatic star of the show, will be denied the role until they get down to just one left. The Canadian public will have a say on who stays and who leaves the competition as they vote to keep in their favourite star. With a sing-off between the two bottom favorites where the judges will be able to save just one, each week the competition will get tighter and tighter until eventually, the star will be born in Andrew Lloyd Webbers ‘Wizard of Oz’ Musical.

On top of it all, they are looking for a Toto as well! The journey will kick off with 10 women going head to head against the public vote as they battle it out until the end. Not only is this a chance of a lifetime, but also gives the eliminated women exposure to be able to pursue other venues in the Musical Theater industry. Based on the UK Series of the same name, it is Canada’s turn to crown their own Dororthy as they go through the audition process to potentially become Canada’s Dorothy for ‘The Wizard of Oz’. The concept of the show is simple. Week after week they will be eliminated until the end where Andrew Lloyd Webber will give the Ruby Red Slippers to the winning Dorothy.

With the stage set, the show’s premiere can go off with a bang! Who will be the new face and voice of Dororthy? That decision is in the hands of Canada and the judges!
