Set during the Second World War, in a German prisoner of war (P.O.W.) camp, Stalag 39. This show follows the prisoners' attempts to escape from the camp and return to their home countries, while managing to get along with their co-prisoners.

James D'Arcy (Master and Commander, Nicholas Nickleby), Joe Absolom (Trevor's World of Sport, Eastenders, Dangerfield) and Patrick Baladi (The Office, Eastenders, Casualty, Midsomer Murders) star in this dramatic account of life behind the wire.

British airman Jim Caddon is shot down over Germany and is taken to P.O.W camp: Stalag 39. He clashes with the Senior British Officer, Captain Attercombe, as well as the camp 'fixer', Drew Pritchard. All the prisoners are keen to escape, but everyone has a different plan how to do it. Jim gets involved with the escape committee and the tunnel known as 'Elizabeth'.

The prisoners must deal with secrets and lies, spies, queue jumping, death and murder in their race against time and the enemy. (Source: ITV)
