Dínora threatens Gabriela with hurting Martín if she reports her to the police again. Armando and Rosario visit Fernando and learn that Dínora is hiding at the Elizondo hacienda.
Rosario confronts Dínora for forcing Gabriela to throw Sara out and advises Martín to flee the hacienda. Fernando moves him to the first floor so he won't discover his lover.
Pepa inspects Martín's new room and threatens Fernando with reporting him for abuse. Martín refuses to leave the hacienda and promises his daughter that he will never abandon her. The Reyes hold a gathering to welcome Sara.
Dínora's parents ask Fernando about their daughter, and he denies knowing her whereabouts. Martín listens from behind the door and begins to connect the dots. Gabriela also changes rooms.
While Juan senses that something bad is happening at the Elizondo ranch, Gabriela confesses to Rosario that her father is in danger. In a moment of distraction, Martín sees Fernando and Dínora kissing.
Martín discovers the lovers and starts screaming; in desperation, Fernando covers his mouth until he knocks him unconscious, thinks he is dead, and puts the body in the car to get rid of it, but Martín comes to.
Martín wakes up in a sanatorium; the Reyes' employees report that everything is normal at the Elizondo ranch, however the sisters decide to check for themselves what is going on.
The administrator of the sanatorium discovers who Martín is and manipulates him so he won't say anything; Hortencia becomes interested in him. Sarita, Ruth, and Antonio keep watch over the Elizondo ranch at night.
Dínora continues with the intention of annihilating Juan. Gabriela arrives at Martín's room and finds Malcolm disguised as her father. Dínora asks Gabriela to sign the power of attorney so that Fernando can sell and takes her to see her father.
Rosario visits the Elizondo ranch under the pretext of greeting Gabriela and Martín, but Armando forbids her from returning there. Fernando feels that the situation is slipping out of his control.
Hortencia overhears Bustillo mention that he has to kill the old man, and she tells Martín not to take any pills they give him. The Reyes and the Elizondo family auction off Eduvina's jewels.
Raquel makes it clear to Benito that the entire inheritance will go to Ruth, even though they are upset and have different opinions about the Reyes. Fernando thinks of other ways to pressure Gabriela.
Gabriela screams for Raquel to hear her and help her; her friend goes to the basement and sees her gagged, and when she is unable to free her, she flees and has a fatal accident. Another of Ruth's premonitory dreams comes true.
Ruth is devastated by the death of her parents; now more than ever she needs the support of her friends. Dínora psychologically tortures Gabriela, telling her that Raquel died because of her.
In the middle of the funeral, Benito causes a scandal, reproaches Ruth for leaving Raquel alone, and tells her that she has no right to dispose of the fortune. Ruth introduces her real mother.
They read Raquel's will, and there is general surprise when Eva is named the sole heir. Don Martín plans to escape from the psychiatric hospital and seeks help to get out.
Dínora feels that time is running out and thinks about killing Gabriela if she doesn't sign the powers of attorney. A fake nurse takes Martín's wheelchair and helps him escape from the psychiatric hospital.
Don Martín and Hortencia manage to escape from the sanatorium. Bustillo orders the guards to search for them, but they can't find them. Gabriela regrets not listening to her daughters' warnings.
Fernando is furious when he can't find the jewels Gabriela has stored away and becomes defensive when Norma arrives with Eva to inspect the house. Dínora threatens Gabriela so she won't scream.
Don Martín is happy; after so much suffering, he is reunited with his granddaughters. Gabriela confronts Fernando and Dínora—she can't stand the confinement anymore and wants to know about her father and her daughters.
Juan decides to rescue Gabriela and goes alone to the Elizondo hacienda to look for her. Martín recounts the torment he went through and assures everyone that Dínora and Fernando are lovers and accomplices.
Gabriela is surprised to see Juan; she did not expect him to risk his life for her. Fernando and Dínora panic when they are discovered, they shoot Franco, and the police are on alert.
Dínora takes Gabriela and Juan hostage, tries to negotiate a ransom with the police, and threatens Norma. Pepa visits Martín and tells him her suspicions about Armando's wrongdoings.
Franco and Armando revive old rivalries; Fernando's friend fires a gun and Rosario is wounded. After a struggle, Armando pays with his life. The captors are cornered.
The Reyes decide to pay the ransom for their brother, but Dínora and Fernando do not honor the delivery of Gabriela and Juan, and in the middle of a shootout they flee with them in the truck.
The truck carrying Dínora, Fernando, and their hostages gets stuck in quicksand, and they have to hide in the mangroves. Carmela and Malcolm flee with the money, but they are captured.
Juan tells Fernando to check whether they brought the money with them, and they realize they have been deceived by their employees. Dínora changes the route to throw the police off and causes them to get even more lost.
Gabriela becomes exhausted during the trek through the swampy jungle, and Juan says he will not continue without her. Dínora fires a shot into the air, and Franco and Óscar hear it and follow that lead.
Dínora admits that they are lost; she has not guided them well. She swears to Fernando that, no matter what happens, Juan will not leave alive. As night falls, an animal bites Dínora. Rosario wakes up from the coma.
Fernando gets tired of carrying Dínora on an improvised stretcher and suggests continuing without her. Eva decides to help Benito and partners with him to create a hamburger factory.
Dínora clings to Juan as her last salvation and, in desperation, attacks Fernando, who shoots her and watches her body disappear into the swamp. Rosario apologizes to Franco and Sara.
Aníbal, the Reyes' uncle, takes charge of organizing the rescue expedition, accompanied by Franco, Óscar, and the police. Juan's leg pain worsens, and Fernando goes off on his own.
Juan and Gabriela share their family stories, and he mentions Uncle Aníbal, whom they were looking for when they arrived in the region but couldn't find, and that is why they went through so much hardship in the town.
The search party continues looking; Juan and Gabriela hear them and regain hope of surviving. Fernando reappears when they find a way out and threatens them, but he falls into the mud.
Juan and Gabriela are rescued; he can't hide his joy when he sees his brothers and finally reunites with Norma. Gabriela is very weak and is hospitalized. Eva and Aníbal recognize each other.
Gabriela asks her daughters and her father for forgiveness; she wants a new beginning. When she leaves the hospital, her family throws her a surprise party. Franco and Sara get married, and peace finally reigns.
