Popstars The Rivals was shown on ITV in the United Kingdom. The show has presented by Davina McCall and the judges were Louis Walsh, Geri Halliwell and Pete Waterman.

The judges had to whittle down several thousand singers from open auditions around the UK to just ten boys and ten girls. Each week the public voted for their favourites and the singer with the lowest amount of votes was eliminated until just five girls and five boys remained. From these ten a male and a female group were formed who battled for the Christmas number one of 2002. The boy group was named One True Voice whilst the girl group was named Girls Aloud. The girls won the race for the Christmas number one slot. Girls Aloud have since gone on to release three albums. Highlights from the series were released on a DVD.
