The halfway point in the competition is approaching, and platinum-selling artist Jason Derulo and his fellow judges, international music manager Frank Harris and UK chart topper Becky Hill, continue their search for the next global music Icon. In this episode, the judges are throwing another creative curveball at the six remaining artists, and this time they will be testing their commercial potential in song production.

Hosted by Jordan North, this challenge sees the battling artists paired up and hitting the studio to rework and remix their partner's signature track. They are each joined by one of the UK's most iconic music producers and must communicate a clear creative vision for reimagining their track, stamping it with their own unique style and, most importantly, creating a track with chart-topping potential. Once they've finished in the studio, they will then have to showcase their reworked song live in front of their rivals and the judges. But for some, will nerves prevent them from delivering a killer performance?

The two artists who fail to make the grade must sing their hearts out to stay in the competition, before another person is dropped from Project Icon.

Ten unsigned artists have become five in Jason Derulo's UK hunt for an act who is worthy of a life-changing record deal. Looking for someone with more than just a voice, he and fellow judges Becky Hill and US music mogul Frank Harris, along with host Jordan North, have already seen our artists sing under pressure, reimagine and perform their rivals' signature track in the studio and attempt to break the internet with their own brand of social media content.

In this episode, their image and confidence in front of camera are under scrutiny as the artists are split into groups and tasked with producing iconic music videos for tracks gifted to them by special guest judge Olly Alexander from Years and Years.

Barry is committed to coming out on top in this task, but will his direct approach cause friction in the group? Emelle and Dylan tackle dancing on camera for the first time, while Nnenna and Mia battle nerves on set as they compete to outshine their competitors. But will the judges see the potential global superstars in the making?

Whoever fails to make the cut will end up singing to save their place in the competition in front of the three uncompromising judges.

Just four artists remain to battle it out for a place in the Project Icon final. The stakes are raised with the toughest challenge yet as Jason, Frank and Becky task the semi-finalists with taking over the biggest youth station in the UK: BBC Radio 1.

To see how they cope with a triple whammy challenge, each artist is grilled during a radio interview with Radio 1's Future Artist host Jack Saunders. The judges watch on to find out if the artists are capable of bringing listeners into their fan base and selling their brand. Who will impress the judges, and who will land themselves in hot water? Host Jordan North is on hand to give the artists valuable advice along the way.

The pressure mounts to earn a place in the final with a second part of the challenge: performing in the iconic Live Lounge. Under the watchful eye of the judges, the artists must showcase their own versions of hit songs by industry heavyweights: Harry Styles, Dua Lipa, Lizzo and Sam Ryder. It is down to the final four to sell their artistry and prove they have incredible presence whilst also being note perfect.

And to finish off their time at Radio 1, the station's Playlist Team scrutinise each of the artists' original compositions to see if their music has commercial viability for today's airwaves.

Back at Project Icon Studios, the judges must decide which two artists will face the sing-off. With only three spots in the final, it is all to play for, as the artists are in touching distance of a life-changing record deal.

S01E06 - Episode 6 Air Date: 30 April 2023 20:00 -

The three finalists each perform one of their own numbers and a live duet with Jason Derulo at an iconic Manchester music venue. Each singer will get time in the recording studios with Becky Hill before taking to the stage to perform in front of a live audience and the judges for the chance to win a record deal, a collaboration with Jason Derulo, and a performance at Radio 1's Big Weekend.
