Fumihiko Matsumaru is just an average 26 year-old man in advertisement with no girlfriend and some bad luck. However, when he gets stood up, he meets a cute 20 year-old girl named Aka Onda, an inspiring seiy?. Aka tries to cheer him up. After dinner and a movie, Fumihiko finds out that they live in the same neighborhood. That night, Aka’s house burns down, and Fumihiko offers to let her stay at his place. Thus begins the comedy romance of a man trying to get his sale pitches and commercials approved and a girl trying to be a famous seiy? living under the same roof who are more than friend but not yet lovers.

The Rec anime is adopted from the original manga by Q-taro Hanamizawa. In the anime, all the episode titles are named after movies featuring Audrey Hepburn, Aka Onda's idol.
