"Light and Darkness. The final battle of the god's climaxed in a clash between Marfa, Goddess of all Creation and Kardis, Goddess of Destruction. At the end of their fierce battle the stricken goddesses had split the continent forming a new land. Since then, people have come to call this new continent Lodoss: The Acursed Island."

The first 13 episodes of the series is an oav and follows the story of a young man named Parn, striving to follow in his father's footsteps and become a great knight. Lodoss is under attack by the evil hoards of Marmo and Parn and his companions quest to save their island from destruction.

Parn's companions in his quest include his best friend Etoh, a cleric of Falis, an Elf warrior / mage name Deedlit, a wise wizard named Slade, a Dwarf warrior named Ghim as well as a theif named Woodchuck.

The Second Series, which appeared on Japanese television years later takes place some time after the first series. Another young man, also striving to be a great knight named Spark, who fails at his task to protect the powerful young daughter of a wizard and a priestess named Niece.

He is joined in his quest to rescue the kidnaped Niece by Leaf the half-elf, Lyna the thief, Ald-Nova the cleric, Garrack the mercenary, and Grivas the dwarf.

Based on the Japanese novel series of the same name, Record of Lodoss Wars creates a detailed world of fantasy.
