Ritas Welt

Ritas Welt is a German comedy series and follows the life of supermarket cashier Rita Kruse. Rita is a strong and independent woman, who's married to Horst and has two children, Sandra and Markus. She works together with her best friend Gisela, who often makes outright dimwitted remarks. Rita is always shown at odds with her supervisor Achim Schuhmann and seems to be the true boss of the market. Next to Gisela, Rita is supported by in-house butcher Berni and apprentice Kevin, who's later replaced with Didi.

The series was a huge success for the network and provided together with Nikola a good comedy line-up. Rita's Welt was seen by over seven million viewers and received many awards in it's five-year run.

RTL would have liked to continue the series, but Gaby Köster, who played the title role, quit after five seasons. Originally comedian Hella von Sinnen was planed for the role of Rita Kruse. The network gave the role to Köster, which reportedly lead to tension between Köster and the producers for years - and was part of the reason she quit.
