Detective Martin Oudkerk was sent to the police academy as an 18-year-old boy by his criminal stepfather Henk, so that he can pass on information later. Martin's world changes when Henk is murdered by a new group of ruthless criminals. When they force Martin to pass on information, he must do everything he can to keep himself going and protect his family. When Martin is finally stuck with nowhere to go, he is forced to cross borders.
After the assassination attempt on Willem, Martin continues his search for Ans. He seeks revenge and tries to make a deal with Paul Remmers to get close to Ans. Just as he's close to success, however, everything goes horribly wrong.
After the attack on Paul, Martin has to do everything he can to keep him in his camp. He forces Gulsah to stand behind him and together they make a plan to deal with Ans once and for all.
Martin's plan seems successful. Now that Ans is out of the picture, Martin wants to go straight to Noura and Max. But Martin has several enemies and when one of them takes a drastic measure, Martin's true identity seems to come true.
After Gulsah takes Paul's load, everyone is under high tension. The conversation with John van den Heuvel makes Martin realize once again that he is on the verge of exposure. When he thinks it couldn't be worse, he suddenly comes face to face with his greatest enemy and a deadly attack takes place.
After the attack on Willem, Martin has to do everything he can to keep his brother calm. With Ans back, he suddenly has a trump card in his hands. When she disappears without a trace, Martin is back at the end.
Martin finds out where Ans is. After a confrontation with Willem, the three strike a deal as they used to, to settle all the problems once and for all.
After Ans is betrayed and Martin discovers by whom, only one solution is possible. He will have to go further than he ever went to survive.
After all of Martin's plans seem to have succeeded, he can finally reunite with his family. But then fate strikes relentlessly.
