Suikoden: The Anime

Lilyu and his best friend Joey are on an expedition as part of the boy soldier unit of the Highland Kingdom. On their last night before they can return to their hometown of Caro, where their childhood friend Nanami awaits them, they are ambushed by the enemy in the mountains. Cornered by the soldiers, the two promise to meet again and jump into a waterfall at night.

When Lilyu awoke from unconsciousness, he found himself inside a mercenary fort of the enemy City Alliance army. Working as a prisoner in the fort, doubts about the Highland army began to grow within Lilyu. Had they been framed? If so, who was behind it...?

Joey then appears before Riryu. Joey, too, had drifted ashore in enemy territory.

To find all the answers, Lilyu and Joey vow to return to the town of Caro and escape the fortress. But an even larger conspiracy awaits them...

Liliu, Joey, and Nanami took refuge in a mercenary fort.

The strategist Apple arrives and informs them that the mad prince Luca Bright has led the kingdom's army and begun its march towards the fort.

In order to prepare weapons to counter Luca, Lilyu and his companions travel to the village of Ryube at Victor's request to meet a man known as Tsai of the Divine Spear. However, Luca continues his invasion, burning down Ryube and even the village of Toto where Pirika lives.

Joey rushes to Toto's side and is reunited with Pirika, but stands there, stunned by the sight of the village reduced to a burnt-out wasteland. To stop Luca, he and Lilyu resolve to fight alongside the City Alliance Army.

Luca and the Kingdom army have finally reached the fortress, and Victor and his men are met with a fierce battle using the new weapon, the "Dragon Flame Spear."
