The Housing Enforcers is a BBC One day-time television series that first aired on 1 September 2014.The series is hosted by presenter Matt Allwright and looks at the work of Local Authority Housing Officers who deal with disrepair and other Environmental Health related matters in the private rented housing sector in the UK.
Matt Allwright is on the beat in Havering with the council's fraud team. While in Tendring, housing officers are faced with fly-tipping that is threatening the safety of local residents. Matt meets a mum whose family is having to be relocated thanks to particularly pungent problem. In Stroud, an abandoned property in a sheltered-housing scheme is causing a big headache for housing officers.
Matt Allwright meets an ageing couple in Wiltshire who are struggling to remain independent in their own home. In Suffolk, housing officers tackle a tenant whose antisocial behaviour could lead to an eviction. In London, an attempt by Matt and housing officer Grace to tackle overcrowding threatens to boil over.
Matt Allwright meets a pair of tenants in north London who are in danger of becoming isolated from their local community. But can a volunteer lunch club help provide a solution? In Newcastle, Matt meets residents so terrorised by their neighbour that they have become prisoners in their own homes. And in Stroud, a tenant is facing up to losing his home after more than 50 years.
