The Motorway Cops: Catching Britain's Speeders

Nicky Campbell narrates as the series follows the work of Staffordshire police, with PC Ed Clarke being taken on a wild ride through Stoke-on-Trent after he spots a ropey-looking Vauxhall that fails to stop. On the M6, PC Kara Pilarczyk is overtaken by a speeding driver clocking 97mph, while PC Chris Bagnall receives a call about an illegal off-road bike riding along the pavement near Newcastle-under-Lyme.

PC Ed Clarke responds to a 999 call from a worried driver who is behind a van on the M6 that is all over the road and has nearly collided with the central reservation. When Ed gets eyes on the vehicle, the dangerous driving is clear to see and a breathalyser test at twice the drink drive limit explains everything. On the night shift, PCs Kara Pilarczyk and Tom Cordall pull over a delivery driver for not wearing his seatbelt, but the man's evasive behaviour raises suspicions.

PCs Lucy Pond and Mark Gribble join the hunt for a wanted criminal following reports that the man has rammed a police car. PC Ed Clarke is alerted to a suspicious vehicle on a petrol forecourt linked to the supply of counterfeit goods and when he discovers a holdall crammed with foreign cigarettes, the driver claims he is on his way to Lidl to make a delivery. In Stoke-on-Trent, officers chase a white van on cloned plates.

An uninsured Mercedes van refuses to stop on the M6, leading officers on a dangerous pursuit before patrols force it off the road and arrest the suspected drink-driver. PC Chris Bagnall stops a weaving BMW and finds a tired perfume salesman behind the wheel. In Stoke-on-Trent, officers investigate a sports car with dark tints, uncovering cannabis and facing an angry confrontation after seizing the vehicle and arresting the driver

On the M6, PCs Mark Gribble and Lucy Pond are called in after a car fails to stop for Cheshire Police. Intel reveals it's untaxed, uninsured, and without an MOT. Further south, Inspector Chris Moss sets up on a slip road after Intel flags a flatbed truck carrying a car linked to catalytic converter thefts. Also, ANPR cameras pick up a car connected to a high value theft at TK Maxx.

On patrol in Stoke-on-Trent, PC Chris Bagnall hunts down a stolen black BMW on cloned plates linked to a recent burglary. Kara joins PC Tom Cordall on patrol where a black VW Golf catches Tom's eye. Checks reveal the driver is only on a provisional license. Also, PC Ed Clarke is alerted to a car that's regularly driven by someone on cannabis.

On the M6, PCs Kara Pilarczyk and Tom Cordall are part of an operation to stop a cloned Nissan pick-up truck suspected to be stolen. On the night shift, PC Elly Martin and PC Ed Clarke spot a car with a faulty parking light - only for checks to reveal it's uninsured. In South Staffordshire, PC Ben Edwards responds to a call about an erratic driver who has no lights on.

PCs Lucy Pond and Nick James race to back up patrols who are on the tail of a Megane that has failed to stop. After ploughing into parked cars and smashing into a house, the suspect driver and his passenger attempt to flee. After receiving intel about a vehicle linked to the supply of drugs, PC Ed Clarke hunts for the suspect Skoda on the M6.

On the M6, PC Elly Martin helps stop a cloned Audi after police box it in busy traffic. The shocked driver claims he's had it three months and had no idea it was cloned. In Stafford, a moped rider's cannabis claim falls apart, while in Leek, PC Ed Clarke gets tea and cake from grateful residents. Also, Elly stops a white van driver whose story doesn't add up.
