The Olivier Awards is an annual awards ceremony that is widely recognised as the most prestigious stage honours event on the UK calendar.The awards are given to individuals involved in West End productions and other leading non-commercial theatres based in London across a range of categories covering plays, musicals, dance, opera and affiliate theatre.
The stage is set at London's Lyceum Theatre as Ewan McGregor , Charlton Heston , Cate Blanchett , Al Murray , Vanessa Redgrave , Juliet Stevenson , Sir Nigel Hawthorne and Alan Bates are among the celebrities gathered for the Society of London Theatre's awards ceremony, which reviews the theatre year.
