"The Smurfs" is a comic and television franchise centred on a group of small blue fictional creatures called Smurfs, created and first introduced as a series of comic strips by the Belgian cartoonist Peyo (pen name of Pierre Culliford) on October 23, 1958. The original term and the accompanying language came during a meal Peyo was having with his colleague and friend André Franquin at the Belgian Coast. Having momentarily forgotten the word "salt", Peyo asked him (in French) to pass the schtroumpf. Franquin jokingly replied: "Here's the Schtroumpf — when you are done schtroumpfing, schtroumpf it back..." and the two spent the rest of that weekend speaking in "schtroumpf language". The name was later translated into Dutch as Smurf, which was adopted in English.
Natural Smurf wants to learn how to dance and while attending Brainy's school of Dance, they have a encounter with a dancing bear who has escaped from the evil Malakov.
Scruple manages to convince Gargamel that he is going to turn into a dog after a encounter with what appears to be a rabid puppy.
Puppy is poisoned by tainted water and Papa Smurf discovers that he can only be cured by a unicorn.
Vanity gets full of himself while the Smurfs are helping him build a shed and he goes out into the forest where he meets a imp named Winky who becomes his new best friend. The Smurfs then have to find a way to get the Imp off Vanity. While searching for Impweed, they then have a run in with Gargamel who is up to his usual tricks.
The Smurfs set out to help out an elderly human couple.
