Aria Kishan, a leading divorce lawyer for Manchester's elite, is poised to take the reins from her father, Dhruv, at Kishan Law, the family firm he founded after he moved to the UK from India years ago. She has big aspirations for the company, including moving away from their current premises and expanding at a new upmarket location. But Dhruv wonders if she can take on the responsibility of Kishan Law alone.

Aria's wedding preparations to steady long-term partner Neal have been paused following the tragic death of her mother, Raina, six months ago. Raina was sick, and Aria moved back in with Dhruv to help care for her and has stayed since to make sure her dad was managing.
