Next Episode of The Tournament is
not planed. TV Show was canceled.
It's time for another season of trash-talk, rough play and "end-to-end" action. Plus, there'll be some kids playing hockey.
Nominated for 3 Gemini Awards, The Tournament returns for Season 2. It's the return of the most socially dysfunctional moms-and-dads ever to drink hot chocolate in an unheated rink. Watch as they drive the coach to drink, gasp as they abuse relationships like Don Cherry abuses colour schemes, cringe as their dignity gets roughed up like a Swedish rookie, and laugh like you've never laughed at hockey before.
Welcome back to the small town of Briarside, home to the Farqueson Funeral Home Warriors - an underdog Pee-Wee team whose players have heart and chemistry, and whose parents have gall and insensitivity.
The cast of characters is the same, and even less likely to win a Lady Byng trophy. The boorish Barry McConnell (Alain Goulem) is back, still counting the millions that his 10-year-old son Robbie (Martin Huismans) will inevitably earn in the NHL (though Robbie's dreams actually skew toward Bob Fosse dance numbers). Work-out babe/single-mom Deb Pishatelli (Kate Greenhouse) becomes engaged… to two men.
Meanwhile, team physician Dr. Singh's (Cas Anvar) pride in his own son Kumar's scoring ability is subconsciously turning him into the thing he hates most - Barry. And a crack in the marriage of Aurora (Tracey Hoyt) and Farqueson Funeral Home director Hal Farqueson (Richard Jutras) bodes ill for the very future of the team. All this, and the Warriors, including vomit-prone Anthony Pishatelli and foul-mouthed tomboy Denim Farqueson, still manage to find themselves tournament-bound, upholding Canada's honour at the famed NOR AM Tournament.
