Thomas & Friends is a British children's television series, which had its first broadcast on the ITV network on 4 September 1984. It is based on The Railway Series of books by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher Awdry. These books deal with the adventures of a group of anthropomorphised locomotives and road vehicles who live on the fictional Island of Sodor. The books were based on stories Wilbert told to entertain his son, Christopher during his recovery from measles. From Series one to four, many of the stories are based on events from Awdry's personal experience.
When the Fat Controller asks Daisy to take some special passengers to the holiday town of Harwick, she decides that they are so special that she doesn't want to allow children eating ice lollies on board and refuses to pull a dusty baggage truck. Without props or an audience, the passengers' Punch and Judy puppet show can not go ahead. Will Daisy help out and save the day?
Christmas is fast approaching and it is the last chance for children to post their letters to Santa. Percy is collecting the mail, but there is a lot of snow on the rails and it isn't easy to get through. When Percy runs into a snowdrift, Harold volunteers to take the letters for him. Percy is unhappy at having to be helped, but when Harold doesn't come back, it is Percy who goes to find out what happened and help him in return.
Snow comes early to the Island of Sodor - and it is heavier than usual! Donald and Douglas are coupled back-to-back with a van between their tenders and snowploughs on their fronts. However, they argue about which line they should clear first, ending in Donald leaving his brother behind in the snow without coal or water!
Thomas is sent to work in the quarry for a spell, so Daisy is asked to take on his usual responsibilities. Annie and Clarabel are not needed, because Daisy can carry passengers without having to pull any coaches. But when Daisy takes every opportunity to remind them of it, Annie and Clarabel soon find a way to get their own back.
