Jim Hawkins and his mother Bess are pulled into a dangerous world when a sailor washes ashore with a pirate's treasure map; deciding to seek the treasure for themselves, they set sail on the Hispaniola, unaware of the danger on board.
Onboard the Hispaniola, Bess targets Graham for protection as Long John lays the groundwork for mutiny with the crew; when violence erupts, Jim makes a calculated move that shifts the balance, tipping the scales in Long John's favor.
Alliances fracture as the voyage wears on. Bess and Graham play a cat-and-mouse game, while Long John targets Jim; when Graham makes his move, the truth surfaces. The consequences are deadly and Jim is forced to take control of his fate.
Jim saves Long John's life, knowing he still needs him; Graham draws Jim into the world of San Domingue, witnessing power, politics and revolution up close; chaos erupts and Long John gains control of the ship - but Jim has an ace up his sleeve.

Captive on Skeleton Island, Jim turns the tables in an attempt to catch up to Long John before he can leave with the treasure; back at sea, alliances fracture and reunite, binding the survivors together in a dangerous new partnership.
