Pulling back the curtain on the complicated family affair that is teenage pregnancy, Unexpected will look at various stages of each pregnancy and the first few weeks of parenthood with teens who happened to have been raised by teens. The series focuses on three teen couples who are entirely unprepared to have a child and their parents or grandparents who must step in and help through this huge life change. Tensions mount between the families as everyone has conflicting ideas for what is best for the young parents and their child - from where they will live to whether or not they should get married.
As Mia recovers from her C-section, family tensions flare when Nicole's absence causes hurt on both sides. Meanwhile, Bella faces a pregnancy scare, Amya's struggles with her post-pregnancy body, and Isabella braces for labor amid Bryce's family drama.
Mia and Jessie bring Oakleigh home as Keith's rules spark tension. Bella receives the results of her pregnancy test leading to a tough talk. Isabella delivers Haisley while Bryce's family is left in the dark. Amya and Jose clash over parenting.
Bryce asks Isabella to meet his newborn daughter. Mia's dad softens on his cardinal rule. Amya returns to the site of her past humiliation for a shot at redemption. Hunter's father's promise to meet baby Wes causes cautious optimism.
