Ben Boyce, former co-host of Pulp Sport, is back and he’s out of work. Ben is on the look out for a new job but he doesn’t just want any old job, he wants to be something cool - like a rock star or fashion icon or maybe even a movie star or millionaire businessman. Ben is a Wanna-be in WANNA-Ben, Fridays, 10pm on 3.

Each week WANNA-Ben follows Ben as he tries his hand at a new career, attempting to live the life of the rich and famous, by employing the assistance of famous faces to guide him on his journey.

“At the start of the year I had no job. So I started looking for a cushy easy job like my own ‘fan mail co-ordinator’ but even I wouldn't employ me,” explains Ben about how the series came about. “Then I begin thinking of people that have really cool jobs like movie star Steven Seagal, pop star Mel B, rock star Alice Cooper, and rapper Vanilla Ice. And decided I was going to try and be like them – and turn my attempts into a TV show complete with interviews with these people and everything!”

And that’s exactly what he did, to find out what he will need to achieve to get his new dream job, WANNA-Ben sees Ben interview a myriad of local and international celebrities.

“WANNA-Ben will be full of skits, song parodies and experiments with the public,” Ben explains. “It also sees me endure plenty of pain and humiliation - bee stings, many paintballs, facial acupuncture and injections, drinking my own blood, kissing a dog and prostitution!”

Although WANNA-Ben has a clear link to Pulp Sport, Ben say he hopes audiences will see the new series as more than “Pulp Sport’s Ben going solo”.

“The show is kind of a spin off of Pulp Sport but I’m hoping it won't be what Joey was to Friends,” he says. “With the same sense of humour, I’m hoping WANNA-Ben is similar enough to Pulp Sport so that Pulp Sport fans like it, but with the big international celebrities and a move away from sport, I hope that non Pulp Sport fans like it. So basically I’m hoping that EVERYONE will like it!?!? Or at the very least, my mum will like it!” (Source: TV 3 New Zealand)
