In this episode, Kate Humble enters the secret and clandestine world of submarines. She is invited to step on board a British nuclear powered attack submarine at the secretive base of Faslane in Scotland. Meeting the submariners that live and work there, Kate gets a taste of what life is like on board a Royal Navy submarine.

Former Royal Marine JJ Chalmers heads back to his old stomping ground, the Royal Marine Commando Training Centre in Devon where his training began 18 years ago. Last series, despite the injuries he received whilst serving in Afghanistan, JJ attempted to complete the infamous endurance course. It's a punishing 6.5 mile run along muddy paths, bogs, tunnels and obstacles, and last year JJ didn't make the grade and he has decided to give it one last try but has this former Royal Marine still got the physical and mental strength to pass the test this time?

In this episode Kate Humble joins British Warship HMS Dragon and her crew of over 200 off the coast of Norway as the ship prepares for its next big mission. With amazing behind-the-scenes access to the British warship that has just been sent to the Mediterranean, Kate is on board to witness them testing their weapons to confirm that the ship and her crew are battle ready.

The Royal Marines Band Service are one of the world's most famous and celebrated military bands and JJ Chalmers has just been invited to join their ranks for a very special performance. But can the unmusical JJ learn enough in just a few weeks, to pass muster as part of the band? As JJ performs with them in front of 2,000 people at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall... we discover whether this former Royal Marine, has what it takes!

The Royal Navy is famous for its royal connections and Kate travels to Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth to discover more about His Majesty King Charles's time in the Senior Service. The then Prince Charles spent six years in the Royal Navy rising to become a captain of his own ship. As well as discovering exactly what Charles got up to during his time at the Naval College, Kate meets a fellow crew member and gets first hand testimony of what it was like to serve alongside the then-future king.
