Next Episode of Wilderness with Simon Reeve is
unknown.
On our increasingly crowded planet, there are still a few remote areas where nature has the upper hand: the last great wildernesses. In this series, Simon Reeve attempts to journey across four of them, venturing further into the unknown than he ever has before, in a bid to unlock their secrets, and experience the natural world at its most beautiful and fragile.Simon explores the Pacific Ocean's spectacular Coral Triangle, Africa's vast Congo Rainforest, the sweeping Kalahari desert, and the awe-inspiring landscape of Patagonia. Along the way, Simon embeds himself with the people who make their homes in the wild, to understand how they live alongside nature, and what we can all do to preserve the planet's greatest wonders for future generations.
Simon Reeve ventures deep into one of the most remote and biologically rich regions on Earth, the rainforests of Papua New Guinea, in search of one of the rarest creatures on the planet - the tenkile tree kangaroo.
Covering just a tiny fraction of the planet's land surface, tropical rainforests hold more than half of the world's plant and animal species – and few places rival New Guinea for sheer diversity. The island is home to vast wilderness areas that remain little known to science, a lost world with countless species still undiscovered.
Simon Reeve explores one of the richest and most dramatic marine ecosystems on Earth – Mexico's Sea of Cortez. Once called the 'aquarium of the world' by legendary oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, this vast inland sea teems with extraordinary life, from giant shoals of fish to major populations of sea lions and dolphins. Most of all, Simon is searching for Mexico's rare and dangerous sharks.
Simon Reeve journeys deep into Canada's vast and empty Yukon Territory – one of North America's most iconic and remote landscapes. Covering an area almost the size of Spain but home to fewer than 50,000 people, the Yukon is a land of immense forests, glaciers, rivers and wildlife. In wealthy, modern Canada, Simon wants to find out how the people and the wildlife of this immense wilderness are faring - all while searching for an apex predator, the grizzly bear.
Simon Reeve travels across Mongolia – the most sparsely populated country on Earth and home to some of the most brutal and beautiful landscapes on the planet. Six times the size of the UK but with fewer than 3.5 million people, Simon wants to find out how nomadic traditions, such as hunting with golden eagles, and wild nature still shape everyday life, all while searching for the elusive snow leopard.
