Gardenia town, Earth. It is the first day of summer vacations for 16-year-old Bloom, when an ordinary bike ride turns into… a magic encounter! Bloom gets caught in the middle of a battle between a fairy named Stella, and a gang of trolls led by Knut the Ogre. Bloom unexpectedly uses magical powers to help Stella! Bloom takes Stella home and learns from her about Magix, a magical dimension that is home to the Alfea College for fairies. What is the explanation for Bloom's magic? Is she a fairy like Stella? The mystery begins… 

Bloom finds it hard to catch up on her magic lessons - everything is so new to her! Meantime, Alfea has a grand welcoming party for its new students. The Specialists, the boys of Red Fountain, are invited too. However, the happy occasion is almost ruined by the sudden attack of the witches. Bloom shows a great potential as she saves the situation and is welcomed as a heroine. Her life at Alfea starts to feel ‘lighter' and more comfortable. 

Lessons are getting more intense. The aspiring fairies experience their first outdoor training in the mysterious Black-Mud swamp. But the training is interrupted by an emergency landing of the Specialists' aircraft. The Specialists are on their way to transport a troll to the Magix Prison. The rest of the episode is a wild-goose chase for the dangerous troll, who escaped when the aircraft landed. As the fairies and Specialists search deeper into the swamp, they get lost in this labyrinth-like place. They will have to apply all their skills to get out of this life-threatening maze. 
 

Stella is kidnapped by the Senior Witches and Mr. Knut while on a mystery date with Prince Sky.

The Winx sneak into the eerie CloudTower to challenge the three witches again, hoping to get the ring back. Meantime, the Trix discover that Stella's ring does not hold the legendary power they are looking for. The Winx manage to get the ring back, and while fleeing, they accidentally step into the compound of the famous ‘Crypt of the Magic Archive', the most secret vault of Cloud Tower where complete records of every fairyland and fairy are kept. However, the place is full of never-ending traps and danger… and a mysterious voice speaks to Bloom... 

Faragonda, the Headmistress of Alfea, punishes the fairies for their unauthorized trip to CloudTower. She confines them to clean the entire school- To avoid the fairies using magic for the cleaning, Faragonda temporarily deprives them of their powers. The Specialist come by to help them. But the Trix arrive in Alfea with a monster summoned to destroy the college! Although without magical powers, the Winx get help from the Specialists and defeat the monster, spoiling the witches' plan. As a reward, Faragonda restores their magic powers. 

The witches are getting very annoyed with the Specialists for their constant support to the fairies. Now, more than ever, the witches have a devious plan to break up the friendship between them. During a flying bikes tournament, they cause a horrible accident for Riven and manipulate the situation, putting the blame on Bloom. A furious quarrel bursts out between Riven and Bloom. The Specialists agree with Bloom, and Riven gets upset, deciding to leave the Specialists. The sneaky witches immediately offer their wretched friendship to the boy. 

The mysterious voice that saved Bloom at CloudTower keeps coming up in her dreams. It is Daphne, one of the nine legendary nymphs of Magix. Meanwhile, Musa quarrels with Stella and leaves the dormitory for downtown. Unfortunately, she runs into the Trix, who immediately attack her. But before their fatal strike, the Winx arrive in time to rescue Musa. Icy realises Bloom's huge source of energy. She recognizes that such energy is very similar to the legendary dragon fire power... How does Bloom have such power? 

Icy is eager to know more about Bloom. During Bloom's mid-term exam at Alfea, Darcy fixes the Simulation Chamber at the highest level of difficulty to better analyse Bloom's power. Bloom faces very difficult and dangerous challenges in Sparks, the virtual land set by the Simulation Chamber, but manages to win all fights and scores well on the exam! There is no doubt at this point that Bloom is a very, very special fairy. 
 

For a potion test, Flora has to find a rare and special flower that only grows in the Black-Mud Swamp. The Winx venture into the swamp together, where they meet some water fairies, victims of a spell cast by a red willow. The willow is capable of putting anyone who approaches it into a deep and long sleep. The five fairies battle a monstrous creature and the terrifying red willow. After a spectacular display of power, the fairies manage to get the flowers they need and defeat the red willow. 

Bloom returns to Gardenia to visit her parents. She shows off her newly acquired power: she can "feel" the nature and intentions of people, understanding whether their intentions are good or bad. Mike and Vanessa decide to finally tell her the truth - she is actually an adopted child! Mike, her 'father', found her in a fire during one of his firefighting missions. Bloom is completely shocked by this news.

Bloom, Tecna, Timmy and Brandon make another attempt to enter the Crypt of the Magic Archive in CloudTower to learn more about Bloom's origins. After many dangers, they finally enter the crypt, but to everyone's shock, they discover that Bloom is a renegade witch, not a fairy! Full of shame, Bloom runs away, unaware that it is actually a trap set by Icy. Taking advantage of Bloom's low spirits, Icy, Darcy and Stormy try to lure her back to them. 
 

Bloom runs into Prof. Wizgiz, who accidentally drops a sealed envelope: Questions and answers for the test the next day! Bloom takes the envelope to her friends: what should they do? Should they open it and get all the questions and answers? After a series of hilarious situations, none of the five friends open the envelope. But the next morning, many of their classmates have colored paint all over their faces… What happened? 

The Trix want to get hold of the Dragon Flame, so they summon a shadow monster that can create terrifying nightmares during sleep. The monster approaches the fairies' bedroom and takes all their powers, becoming extremely powerful. But the fairies discover the monster and its intentions and Faragonda comes to help. Defeated once again, the witches return to CloudTower, where Headmistress Griffin punishes them with expulsion from the college.

Bloom accidentally finds out that Brandon is not a simple squire to Prince Sky, he is the real prince instead. For security reasons, the two friends switched roles. But there is another surprise: Brandon has a fiancée, the beautiful princess Diaspro. Bloom engages a fight against Diaspro, because she is convinced that the witches are again behind it. To her great disappointment, Diaspro is real! 

The Trix attack Bloom again. During the fight, they reveal themselves to be the Ancestral witches who centuries before destroyed the world of Domino while trying to steal the Dragon Flame. Bloom is defeated and loses all her powers to the three witches' advantage… Could she really be the last princess of Domino? 
 

The Trix take control of Cloud Tower and summon the Army of Darkness to control Magix.

After much persuasion, Faragonda finally agrees to let Bloom and friends explore the ruined world of Domino, hoping to find any possible trace of the Dragon Flame to save Magix! Meanwhile, Red Fountain is destroyed, and the boys flee to Alfea. When they arrive in Domino, the fairies are attacked by a monster created by Icy. The witch uses all her powers against the Winx. After a spectacular exchange of attacks, the fairies manage to escape Icy's ferocity, but the situation seems increasingly helpless as the tired and injured Winx continue to search. Will Bloom regain her power? 

The Winx reach the ruins of the ancient Royal Palace of Domino. Bloom finds the crown she frequently dreamed about, and the moment she places it on her head, flashes of memory and information start returning to her. She learns the way to get her power back from the Trix. At this moment, the Winx gets another attack from Icy, but Brandon appears and helps the fairies. They immediately return before it is too late to save Magix!
