WXW which stands for “World Xtreme Wrestling” is another federation that was established in the same vain as the old ECW “Extreme Championship Wrestling”. In other words this organization has a very large percentage of hardcore matches with blood and gore, tables, ladders, chairs, chains, barbed wire and the like. WXW was originally formed in October 1996 having its’ main headquarters in Pennsylvania. Prior to becoming the WXW the federation itself was formed in 1970 as the TWWF “Trans World Wrestling Federation” then later becoming WSPW “Wild Samoan Pro Wrestling”. The owner, operator and founder of the original federation is none other than ½ of the Wild Samoans tag-team Afa Anoa'i.
In 1998 WXW held its’ first ever televised event titled “Sportsfest ‘98” in Allentown, PA. It has held that annual event every year since then. In 2001 after the original ECW closed down some of its’ wrestles appeared at Sportsfest ’01. In January 2002 WXW began airing a weekly wrestling broadcast they called “WXW Rage TV”. In 2002 it began having live cards overseas in Asia, Guam, Japan, Korea, Okinawa and in Afghanistan for the US troops stationed there. For a few years the promotion made its’ headquarters in the Florida area but in January 2005 it moved back to Allentown, PA. Some of the better known stars to appear in this organization include April Hunter, Batista, Balls Mahoney, Devon Storm, Gene Snitsky, Kamala, Little Guido, Mikey Whipwreck, Rikishi, Samu, The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, Tony Atlas and Tracy Brooks.
The series can currently be seen in Alabama, American Samoa, Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It airs on the weekends in all markets and the biggest majority of the airings are on Saturday afternoons at 4PM.
