In Belfast's Royal Victoria A&E, an intoxicated woman complains loudly that she should be seen first before any foreigners and becomes increasingly aggressive. Twenty-one-year-old Roberta is in agony after dislocating her shoulder from a fall at home. A 27-year-old is rushed to Newham Hospital, East London, after her throat began to swell and close up while out drinking with her friends.
In Newham, doctors struggle to deal with an abusive man who claims he's swallowed a pack of heroin, while a 17- year-old is rushed to A&E after vomiting blood after a tonsillectomy.
In East London, at Newham Hospital A&E, a man suspected of being intoxicated causes a disruption and shouts at the nurses, causing a delay for other patients. A homeless woman is rushed to the hospital's resus department, after she was found collapsed in the street. At Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital, nurse Rebekah deals with a man who has taken a cocaine overdose.
In East London, at Newham Hospital Emergency Department, doctors rush to save a 36-year-old man's sight, who has been violently attacked. Dr Rosie cares for a 63-year-old woman with a significant head injury in Newham. In Belfast, Dr Alice runs urgent tests to assess 83-year-old farmer Ian, who is suffering from suspected life threatening abdominal pain.
At Newham Hospital Emergency Department, a drunk man with knife wounds in his chest and hand refuses to cooperate, until heavy bleeding threatens his vital organs. In Belfast's Royal Victoria A&E, an 81-year-old woman has suffered a brutal injury to her leg from slipping in her muddy garden and smashing her shin into a concrete bar.
