Alone places ten hardcore survivalists alone in the wilderness - no camera crew, no teams, no producers - on a single mission to stay alive. At stake is $500,000 awarded to the person who can last the longest. They will face extreme isolation and psychological distress as they plunge into the unknown, self-documenting their experience.
The first day of the adventure begins, with 10 people prepared to head out into unknown wilderness and survive for as long as they can, in total isolation. But when the survivalists confront rocky terrain, wet environments, and hungry predators, all of them begin to question their resolve.
After several days, the participants attempt to acclimate to their new environment and make order out of chaos. One survivalist proves incredibly skillful and finds enormous success scavenging and hunting for food. Meanwhile, doubts emerge for others as debilitating hunger sets in.
After a week on Vancouver Island, several of the participants find success in their new environment; some work in harmony with the wilderness and others battle against it; careless mistakes threaten to send two people home.
The lack of food takes a toll on the remaining participants after days without eating; starvation impairs the mental and physical capabilities of the participants, pushing some to the edge of surrender.
The participants continue to battle debilitating hunger, while an approaching storm puts their survival plans in jeopardy.
Emotions run high for the remaining participants as they struggle to adapt; one participant wrestles with the solitude, while the other risks it all, taking a perilous journey into the unknown.

A participant thrives on the island, while others battle to improve their lot; one man races to a salmon run before it's over; another takes a journey that may be his undoing; and another takes nature's fury head on.
After a month in the bush, nature and seclusion prove tough to handle, while some push to tough it out and others question their ability to last.
The final four battle mental fatigue and physical exhaustion, while one faces stiff competition for fish and another's miscalculation may mean missing the salmon run.
As winter arrives food sources dwindle and the remaining participants need to take risks.
