In south Wales, Jodie and Rhodri Howells can't decide what to do with their countryside plot. They want to build a contemporary family home, but can't decide what to do with the 1950s bungalow currently on the site. Do they remodel and renovate or knock down and start again? In Lincolnshire, Juana and Trevor Jones plan to knock down some 300-year-old, decrepit barns, then reuse the materials to build their dream home for a stylish retirement - all on a shoestring. Charlie Luxton is highly sceptical about their ú100k budget, but, as demolition gets underway, cash is not the biggest concern. Ex-builder Trevor is determined to be hands-on and refuses to down tools even when he's facing a lifesaving operation, leaving his wife Juana wondering whether he'll survive to finish the project. But Trevor insists that things have to be done his way.
