Life in the A&E department of Barnsley Hospital. In the hub, Sister Jane attempts to stay on top of the growing number of patients. Also, the chute that is used to transport bloods through the hospital efficiently has broken. An ambulance arrives with a woman who has a dangerously high heart rate, and volunteer Jane turns detective to try and reunite lost property with its owners.
The hospital moves to a new patient and porter tracking system and service Manager Lindsey is in charge of implementing it. Paramedics arrive with eight-month-old Noah, who is struggling to breathe, accompanied by mum Maddie and dad Kieran. In minor injuries, Janet comes in with a badly broken wrist. Also, 78-year-old Kathleen, who has fallen over on her doorstep, is brought in by ambulance.
Paramedics take a 53-year-old man, who collapsed at home following multiple seizures, straight to resus. Advanced clinical practitioner Chantelle must uncover what is causing his seizures. An eight-year-old with a suspected broken toe is waiting to be seen in the paediatric department. Also, paramedics bring in 94-year-old Margaret, who has a high heart rate and dangerously low oxygen levels.
Paramedics bring in 67-year-old Dianne, who is suspected of having sepsis, and 81-year-old Pat arrives with multiple injuries following her second fall in a week. Advanced clinical practitioner Gemma sends 9-year-old Archy, who has hurt his ankle playing in the garden, for an x-ray. Also, consultant doctor Liz attempts to find the cause of a 73-year-old man's irregular heartbeat.
Operational Support Manager Antonia has become aware of a disruption to the hospital network - a global internet outage causing the systems to go down. Ninety-two-year-old Jeanie is having trouble breathing and is brought into casualty for the second time in a week. Outpatient Graham is rushed to casualty after collapsing during a CT scan.
Four-year-old Skyler is rushed into paediatrics care with recurring seizures - he's experienced them previously, but the length of this episode is a serious concern for the team. Consultant doctor Laura Buxton is put in charge of 85-year-old Maureen's care - she has a slow heartbeat. Emergency nurse practitioner Clare examines 65-year-old Shaun's suspected broken toe.

Forty-two-year-old farmer Duncan has been crushed by one of his herd of bulls. His spleen has ruptured, and he needs to get to the specialist trauma at Sheffield.

Paramedics bring in care home manager Kirsty, who has fallen over at a petrol station, and landed badly on her arm. In Paediatrics 15-year-old Layton is brought in by stepmum Jodie after he injured his arm at school. He has a deep wound and if his arm is broken, he may need emergency surgery.
