The Game

A year after surviving a brutal attack, former detective Huw has retreated to a remote coastal home with his wife Alice, determined to leave the past behind. Meanwhile, their daughter Margot is preparing to move in with her boyfriend Sam, but their fragile peace is disrupted when letters begin arriving from imprisoned serial killer Patrick.

Patrick intensifies his psychological assault on Huw and Margot when Jackie breaks into Margot's flat, scratches out pictures of Sam, and steals Margot's diary. Armed with Margot's most private thoughts, Patrick weaponises her fears. When Margot learns that Huw has secretly visited Patrick in prison again, she explodes - convinced Huw is feeding Patrick's power and even arranging for someone to stalk her.

Huw uncovers evidence suggesting Jonathan may never have been murdered at all - that Patrick fabricated the confession in response to police inquiries. However, Huw doesn't reveal this, and as Jenny grows suspicious of Huw's intentions, he quietly manoeuvres to have her removed from the operation. Margot begs Huw to stop, but he refuses.

Having anticipated Huw's plan, Patrick flees during a tense drive across the moors. Huw lies to Jenny about his escape and Margot visits, furious with her father for nearly going through with it. Hunted and running out of time, Huw tracks Patrick to the abandoned farmhouse, where a devastating truth is revealed and Patrick delivers his final, cruel masterstroke.
