Literature professor Harriet "Harry" Wild is adjusting to retirement when she's mugged. While recovering at the home of her son, a detective in the Dublin police, Harry gleans a clue for his current case. But when she's rebuffed, Harry decides to solve the crime herself. Recruiting an unlikely young sidekick, she finds a new path as a private investigator.
The maid of honour is poisoned at a bachelorette party, even though others were sharing the same bottle of champagne. Harry and Fergus work to figure out how she was poisoned, but since everyone disliked her, narrowing down her killer is much harder.
A face from Orla's past begs for her assistance: Ben Finnegan is on the run from the police, framed for murder, and being hunted by a killer with a crossbow. The only person Orla can turn to is the last one she ever wants to ask for help - Harry.
Harry, Fergus, and Lola are invited to a murder-mystery party in a hotel on a secluded island. The fun quickly turns deadly as they realise a real murderer lurks among them, willing to kill everyone present.
The popular owner of Fergus's boxing gym is found murdered in the Dublin Mountains. The gym was in debt, and the dead man had trouble with both his future wife and his ex-wife. Fergus asks Harry to help him find the killer.
When Jamie D, the lead singer of Lola's favourite boy band, plummets to his death right before the band's farewell performance, Lola convinces Harry and Fergus to investigate.
Harry and Fergus have to contend with a rival private detective, a gangster's henchman and an utterly baffling mystery when the girlfriend of a head chef's decapitated head is served up on a platter. Elsewhere, Paula makes a huge, life-changing announcement and Glenn pops the question to his long-time girlfriend, Petra.
When the director of a daytime Irish soap opera has his throat cut in the middle of a scene, Harry and Fergus are tasked to find the culprit as soon as possible so filming can resume. Fortunately, enough, Harry discovers a secret weapon in the shape of super fan, Orla.
A fellow P.I., Harry Benedict, inveigles his way into Harry's life by sending a particularly perplexing case her way. As Harry and Fergus attempt to work out how it's possible for a mystery writer to shoot himself in a locked panic room without a gun, they find the key to cracking the case might come from a very surprising source.
