Horace and Pete run a small family bar in the heart of Brooklyn, with the help of their Uncle Pete. The bar has always been run by, and passed down to, a Horace and a Pete, cousins or brothers. The bar serves no mixed drinks, only a few types of liquor and one brand of beer, Budweiser, in keeping with their commitment to having an old fashioned, traditional, family-owned bar. Horace, a divorced father of a grown daughter, lives in the apartment above the bar with Pete, who is single. Horace and Pete are battling with extended family members regarding the fate of the bar. Some want to sell, others do not. Various regulars come in and out, and take up their places in booths, or on barstools. The story unfolds over ten episodes, and takes place in the bar, and in the apartment above the bar. Ultimately it is a story of a family and the struggles and laughs that go into running a bar for generations.
Horace and Pete open the bar to their regulars. Family members come and go, and a secret is revealed that could affect the future of the bar. Sylvia's claim to her inherited part of Horace and Pete's brings the family together, as Horace has to deal with his own relationship to Rachel.
Sylvia drops a bomb. An old friend of Pete's unexpectedly appears at the bar. Marsha keeps Horace off balance.
Horace's ex-wife comes to the bar to ask for his advice.
Uncle Pete offers Pete advice about women. Horace connects with an old girlfriend.
The family gathers at the bar. Marsha reminisces about her teenage years. Horace makes a proposal to Sylvia.
Pete goes on a date. Later, he brings her home for a family dinner.
Pete wants to landmark the bar. Horace spends the night with a customer.
Horace takes Pete to see his doctor. Tricia visits Pete again.
Pete has a vision. Horace visits Tricia in the hospital.
It's 1976 and we meet the family. Sylvia wants to travel. Pete returns.
