The series follows "The Gang", a group of five depraved underachievers: twins Dennis Reynolds and Deandra "Sweet Dee" Reynolds; their friends Charlie Kelly, Ronald "Mac" McDonald, and, from season 2 onward, Frank Reynolds, the man who raised Dennis and Dee. The Gang runs the dilapidated Paddy's Pub, an Irish bar in South Philadelphia.
Each member of the gang shows varying degrees of dishonesty, egotism, selfishness, greed, pettiness, ignorance, laziness and unethical behavior, and they are often engaged in controversial activities. Episodes usually find them hatching elaborate schemes, conspiring against one another and others for personal gain, vengeance, or simply for the entertainment of watching one another's downfall. Mac and Charlie drink the proverbial Kool-Aid while trying to uncover the mystery of why "Gilligan's Island" never made it to 100 episodes.
After a Christmas card catastrophe, Charlie nurses a bedridden Mac and Dennis and deliberates on which one is the originator of all their ideas. Dee and Frank are tired of being the bottom of the communication ladder and decide to flip the script.
In an effort to clean up their image, Paddy's sponsors a local Little League team. But when The Gang spots softness in their franchise, they impose a radical new culture: win no matter what and do whatever it takes to get ahead.
Blinded from LASIK surgery, Dee pleads for the guys to spend the night to keep her safe from neighborhood crime, but they listen to the wolves inside themselves and opt for a dudes-only sleepover of their own.
