Piha Rescue is a New Zealand reality series following the daily actions of the Piha Surf Life Saving Club lifeguards on the famous Piha surf beach. Piha is one of the most rugged West Coast beaches near Auckland. Piha Rescue started its lifespan with filming commencing for the first time in the summer of 2001, followed by a one hour documentary airing December 2002 (aired as Piha Patrol); making it the first reality show in the world following lifeguards. From this, the well known Piha Rescue series has taken off; having produced and aired 6 series thus far. Piha Rescue screens in New Zealand on Television New Zealand and has also been sold around the world under various titles, such as Deadly Surf and Surf Rescue. Piha Rescue.
Two teenagers cause mayhem for the Piha Rescue team, a woman collapses in Raglan and the police need the lifeguards to assist.
The Piha Rescue team are back on the beach when a middle-aged woman goes missing, three surfers become distressed in Raglan and Police and lifeguards prepare for the worst.
The team are forced into action when a swimmer goes missing at O'Neill's Bay, a German tourist collapses in the car park and history repeats itself at Bethells.
Rough seas aren't the only issue in this episode, as the sun sets in Raglan the team have 15 minutes to find and rescue three struggling surfers before it's too dark.
This time on Piha Rescue, lifeguards and Police prepare for a precarious rescue after a tramper becomes trapped on the rocks between Piha and Mercer Bay by the incoming tide, and failing light.
