Next Episode of SAS: Who Dares Wins is
Season 3 / Episode 4 and airs on 28 January 2018 21:00
Selection for the SAS is one of the world's toughest job interviews and physical fitness is only the starting point. What's really being tested is psychological resilience and character as candidates undergo sleep deprivation, interrogation and a series of increasingly complex mind games. In this programme, five ex-special forces soldiers re-create tasks from the SAS's secret selection process, putting 30 civilian men through the ultimate test of their physical and - more importantly - their psychological resilience.
In the final episode, the remaining recruits undergo the most psychologically demanding 24 hours of the course: the resistance to interrogation phase, as they are abducted and intensively interrogated
SAS: Who Dares Wins returns, with 25 new civilian recruits pushed to their limits in Morocco's extreme and unforgiving Atlas Mountains. Chief Instructor Ant Middleton and his Directing Staff Foxy, Ollie and Billy are intensifying the course, in a condensed version of SAS Selection that's the closest civilians can get to actual Special Forces training. As the recruits progress through the course, they discover harsh truths about themselves while revealing and facing their fears. For many of them, this is a life-changing experience, but which of them has what it takes to make it to the end? From the very beginning, the DS apply the pressure as the recruits face jumping from a moving helicopter into a huge lake.
The ex-Special Forces instructors push the remaining recruits to tackle their fears and weaknesses head-on, challenging them to abseil more than 200 feet from the top of the enormous El Mansour Dam. Through a series of extreme tasks, including a gruelling mountain climb in blistering heat with 40lbs on their backs, the recruits are confronted with their own weaknesses and encouraged to try and harness them, as the instructors look for the recruits who can turn personal adversity into strength.
The remaining men are split into two units as the course instructors test the recruits' ability to bond - as well as compete - with each other. In the Sahara desert, the recruits compete in a punishing time trial run across the treacherous Erg Lihoudi sand dunes, before having to work as a team to move equipment across the dunes in a 4x4. During a night-time escape and evasion mission, they must cross a remote river valley in the pitch black of night while avoiding hunter teams who are tracking them with dogs, and one of the teams gets lost. The recruits who fail to show the right character and ability in these tasks are later axed from the course in a shock cull.
The remaining recruits are challenged to put their faith in the course instructors and dive backwards - blindfolded - 10 metres off a gangplank into the Barrage El Mansour Eddahbi reservoir. They must then undergo the most psychologically demanding phase of the course - Resistance to Interrogation - where they are captured and then intensely grilled by a team of professional interrogators. Two recruits' friendship is put on the line in this extreme test of mental resilience, trust and moral judgement. Will they betray each other in order to stay on the course?
