Greg Davies is the Taskmaster who, with the help of his right-hand man, Alex, sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper competitive comedians through a series of ingenious challenges. With the chance to be crowned show champion, rivalry amongst the comedians is encouraged, dodgy tactics rewarded and bribes accepted.
It's the grand final, and at the end of this episode, one of our five fabulous competitors will walk away with a trophy that looks very little like Greg Davies tucked under their arm. But before that, Amy Gledhill literally tears her hair out, Armando Iannucci plays the recorder while riding a trike with a plunger on his head, Joel Dommett sniffs the contents of a vacuum, Kumail Nanjiani mistreats a beloved resident of the Taskmaster house and Joanna Page lays waste to Little Alex Horne. Plus: the greatest pillow fights of all time!
Richard Ayoade, Isy Suttie, Matt Lucas, Nina Conti and Chloe Petts leave their dignity at the door to take part in the comedy show, beginning with challenges that see them hunting for golden apples, rearranging furniture and performing duets - with themselves. Alex Horne keeps an eye on their progress, while Greg Davies sums up their performances and hands out the points.
Five plucky comics take on a variety of puzzling, creative and often pointless tasks set by Taskmaster Greg Davies and administered by his loyal little assistant, Little Alex Horne. The courageous quintet crawling through tunnels, looking for faces in toast and making use of their armpits in the name of art are: Chloe Petts, Isy Suttie, Matt Lucas, Nina Conti and Richard Ayoade.
In between contributions from former contestants and relatives of current contestants, this episode will answer many questions, including: can Matt Lucas conquer his vertigo? Where did Chloe Petts find such a giant syringe? And why is Alex Horne flopping about in flippers and butterfly wings? Greg Davies dishes out points when they're deserved and withholds them when they're not as he tries to make sense of Nina Conti filling her face with citrus fruits, Isy Suttie locating her saliva on Alex's jacket and Richard Ayoade chucking a doll's head at a gargoyle.
Greg Davies yells about a famously vast work of art, but how will the contestants react? And what have hippos got to do with it? Meanwhile, Little Alex Horne enjoys watching all five comics look under lots of tables, with varying levels of desperation. Richard Ayoade has a concerning call with his agent, Chloe Petts sticks googly eyes to a body part, and Isy Suttie insists it's time to make steam.
Isy Suttie unexpectedly mentions eggs, Matt Lucas stares hard at the ceiling, Nina Conti gets very clever in a test, Chloe Petts hides an object somewhere Alex Horne wouldn't dare look, and Richard Ayoade gives the slight impression that he finds some of the tasks a bit irritating. But why is Greg Davies wearing a white glove?
